Coach Kyle Beers

Education & Professional Experience

Coach Kyle is a life long learner with a comprehensive educational background, which allows him to offer a diversified approach to the game. Coach Kyle will provide more than just the fundamentals of the game but an all encompassing approach such as goal 

setting, organization, sports psychology and visualization techniques, nutrition and insight into body mechanics and function. 

Kyle has been a passionate teacher for over a decade in the Sudbury area. This experience allows him to plan purposeful and engaging sessions for all levels of athletes. 

Police Foundations Diploma - Sault College

BA in Psychology/minor in Biology - Algoma (formerly Laurentian) University

Bachelor of Education - Lakehead University

- Certified as a Movement Preperation Coach 

Coaching Experience

Kyle has been coaching basketball for over a decade. In this time he has enjoyed tremendous success at all ages and levels of competition including the Provincial stage. 

In his ten plus years as a local high school coach he has honed his skills and philosophies producing 7 City Championship teams, 6 NOSSA Championship teams and most recently guided his team to 3 consecutive OFSAA appearances*. 

Coach Kyle has coached in the club and regional systems for multiple years with great success as well as acting as a Technical Advisor for a local club system. 

Kyle is currently the Associate Head Coach of The Sudbury Five in the National Basketball League of Canada

* Kyle would like to recognize that Coach Joel Rehel has had a great impact on the high school program that they both coach at together.

Alanna later switched to Cambrian Golden Shield Badminton, in which she was an OCAA All-Academic for the two years she played, Vern Dow Memorial Award Recipient, and Certificate of Recognition for her involvement upon Graduation. 

Education & Professional Experience

A scholar graduate from the Physical Fitness Management Program (2014-2017) at Cambrian College, Alanna became certified as a OFC Personal Trainer. She is currently in her second year of being an Apprentice with Coaches Association of Ontario in the Changing the Game - Changing the Conversation program. As a basketball coach, Alanna has various certifications, including NCCP FUNdamentals Basketball, NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills, and continues her NCCP pathway to achieve her levels.

While doing all of this, Alanna was President of the Cambrian Athletic Association for 2 years, where she was recognized by Ontario Campus Recreation for the Female Campus Recreation Student Leadership Award for her efforts in making a difference in students lives. She Co-Chaired the OCAA Women's Soccer Provincials, founded the Little Shield Kids Camp, and lead the way for Bell Let's Talk Day, including sharing her own struggles in losing her father to suicide called "Alanna's Story". Notably, she just created a bursary for Golden Shield athletes called the #ShieldCares Award. Alanna currently works in the community as the Program Manager for Volunteer Sudbury

Coaching Experience

Alanna has done various clinics in the community, but is in her second year as Head Coach for the Macdonald-Cartier Panthers Junior Girls Basketball Team. In her first year of coaching, her team achieved Bronze at Franco, Silver at Cities, and Gold at NOSSA 'A' Championships with a 7 girl roster. Her focus on Fundamentals, Form, and Conditioning continues to grow the program and female athletes in Sudbury.
